Barriers | Water-Gate Aquatic Works

Water-Gate Aquatic Works

Temporary cofferdams temporarily isolate and dry up a work area in order to carry out safety interventions.

The Water-Gate WA model allows the instantaneous installation of temporary cofferdams allowing to work under the water level, in particular to perform aquatic works. It is the culmination of simple and effective technology to instantly block, divert or contain water from aquatic areas, and is a simple and practical alternative to fighting fires in forest environments. Its relatively light weight makes it easier to transport and install, especially in remote and hard-to-reach places.

Water-Gate water barriers are flexible and can be installed on any type of surface, thus making it possible to arrange water intakes for fire fighting even inside a small stream. This water, filtered from all debris and all impurities, can then be used to fight a fire or even a forest fire.

The WA model is particularly useful in rural areas where fire hydrants are not available.

Simple and quick solution

This turnkey solution is ideal for carrying out emergency interventions in record time.

Fire water reserve

The Water-Gate WA model is a simple and practical alternative to forest fire fighting.

Temporary cofferdam

With the WA model, it is now possible to instantly create a dry and safe work area allowing work to be carried out in aquatic environments.

How it works

Water-Gate, a flexible and self-deploying barrier.

Direct water into the barrier

  • Water first enters the folds inside the barrier.

  • The water pressure opens the barrier completely.

Coming into action

  • The barrier is provided with a float which allows the fabric to remain on the surface of the water without letting water pass. The top of the canvas floats to the rhythm of the waves without letting water pass.

Modelled to the terrain

  • The accumulated pressure of the water causes the barrier to stabilize and mould to the terrain.

Types of use

The WA models were designed for the creation of instant cofferdams. Ideal for rapid excavation work—repairing bridges, changing or repairing culverts, burial work in aquatic environments, pipeline passages, bank restoration, pouring cement, dredging, lock maintenance and much more.

The water barrier can be used to divert the path of water to a specific area. This characteristic is ideal for carrying out aquatic works without interrupting the circulation of water. It allows the partial drainage of an arm of a river or a section of a watercourse.

While this use is recommended for our WT model, the WA model has dual functionality to contain a toxic spill. However, only the overflow function is made possible in the absence of a release hole downstream of the barrier. As with the WT model, it is possible to add an absorbent tube to extract the floating pollutants on the surface.

By installing a diverter on the barrier, it is possible to cause a deflection of the water flow towards a specific area. Pipes can easily be installed on the diverter to give the effect of a pipeline. Several lengths are available on request. Visit our diverter page to find out more. In addition to use with other emergency response equipment, the barrier can block existing drainage systems and redirect spilled products.
